Sustainable Shenandoah is a group of interested citizens in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.  Our mission is to increase awareness of the health, economic, and environmental benefits of a sustainable lifestyle.   We do this by providing information, research, education, and partnerships to the local communities of the Shenandoah Valley.

Our Goals

1. Distribute promotional materials, develop an event calendar and create an educational curriculum that supports the overall mission

2. Research, develop and implement educational programs on sustainable agriculture: provide hands-on experiences at local sustainable farms and community gardens

3. Encourage changes in daily routines that promote conservation and preservation-ex. materials re-use/recycling, alternative energy usage, bartering services, product retooling

4. Establish partnerships with local schools and colleges. Network with like-minded organizations, institutions, businesses that support research, education and outreach goals

5.  Coordinate internship/learning opportunities with successful local sustainable businesses

6. Maintain an ongoing forum for an exchange of ideas and experiences that promote sustainability
